E’ già on-line da qualche giorno “Famous first words”, l’album di debutto dei Viva Brother, la nuova next big thing d’oltremanica. Già conosciuta semplicente come Brother, la band all’inizio dell’estate è stata costretta costretta a cambiare il proprio nome a seguito dell’azione legale intrapresa da un omonimo gruppo americano.

L’uscita ufficiale su Geffen Records è prevista per il 1° agosto, ma i fan della giovane band originaria di Slough possono già ascoltare in anteprima “Famous first words”, grazie al video pubblicato sul loro canale youtube ufficiale. Le dieci tracce che compongono il disco sono state prodotte da Stephen Street, in passato già artefice del successo di storici gruppi inglesi come Blur e Smiths. “Gritpop” è il termine che la band stessa ha coniato per definire il proprio sound: brani freschi e frizzanti che si ispirano al miglior guitar pop britannico degli ultimi trentanni. Tra questi segnaliamo in particolare “Still here”, in cui è palese l’influenza dei gruppi britpop anni ’90, Oasis e Supergrass in primis, e “Otherside” dove l’iniziale arpeggio di chitarra richiama subito alla mente gli antichi fasti degli Stone Roses.
